Harpers Ferry Main • Tour the Battlefield > S Schoolhouse Ridge

Southwest of Harpers Ferry and the Union defensive lines, Jackson’s Confederates formed on South Schoolhouse Ridge. From here General A.P. Hill’s men pivoted to outflank the Union line from the south while Confederate artillery moved to cross the Shenandoah to take positions on Loudoun Heights.

Two trails lead to wayside markers on South Schoolhouse Ridge. The shorter trail is .25 mile one way while the longer trail is a 1.3 mile round trip.
