Battle of Salem Church • Tour the Battlefield
Most of the Salem Church battlefield along the busy Plank Road (Google map) has been developed into shopping centers. Two small islands remain – an acre of ground immediately around historic Salem Church containing most of the monuments and markers, and a small plot around the monument to the 15th New Jersey.
The 15th New Jersey monument is a short distance to the east and can be visited from a small pull-off on the north side of Plank Road. To reach the parking area for Salem Church, turn south on Salem Church Road, turn left on General Semmes Road, then turn back north on Old Salem Church Road. The parking area is at the end of Old Salem Church Road and is marked with a National Park Service sign.
