Winchester National Cemetery


The monument to the 8th Vermont Infantry Regiment at the Third Battle of Winchester is in Winchester National Cemetery in Winchester, Virginia. (see map below). Another monument to the 8th Vermont is on the Cedar Creek battlefield outside of Middletown, Virginia.

Location of the 8th Vermont Infantry Monument at Winchester

Winchester National Cemetery is on the east side of Winchester, Virginia. It is about 3/4 mile east of the center of town and one mile west of exit 315 of Interstate 81 on National Avenue, Virginia Route 7. (39°11’00.5″N 78°09’22.9″W) A short driveway leads through the entry gate on the north side of the cemetery to a very small parking area next to the superintendant’s lodge. The monument is in the southeast quadrant of the cemetery.
