The Petersburg National Battlefield Western Front Auto Tour begins at the intersection of Flank Road and Halifax Road, 3.2 miles west of Crater Road. It continues about 5.5 miles, stopping at 2 Union and 1 Confederate forts and the Poplar Grove National Cemetery. The monuments and marker commemorating the death of Confederate General A.P. Hill are not part of the tour but are a short distance from the final tour stop and on the way to both Pamplin Historical Park and the Five Forks battlefield.
