The Site of Lee’s Headquarters is along Virginia Route 24 about a mile northeast of Appomattox Court House National Historical Park. (see map below)

There are three markers at the parking area:

Confederates Trapped orientation marker
Confederate Field Hospital wayside marker
Lee’s Last Headquarters wayside marker

The parking area is also the eastern trailhead for the Appomattox History Trail, which winds 4.5 miles through woods and along the Appomattox River to the North Carolina monument on the west side of the park.

Location

The site of Lee’s Headquarters is along a pull out about 1 1/4 mile to the northeast of the park’s Visitor Center on the right side of Virginia Route 24. (37°23’29.1″N 78°47’01.1″W)
