Appomattox Court House
Confederate Cemetery
Here are buried eighteen Confederate
soldiers who dies April 8 and 9, 1865
in the closing days of the War Between
the States. The remains of one unknown
Union soldier found some years after
the war are interned beside the
Confederate dead. About 500 yards east
of this cemetery is the McLean House
where Lee and Grant signed the
surrender terms.

Location of the marker
The Confederate Cemetery Virginia historical marker is on the north side of Virginia Route 24 about 500 yards west of the entrance to the Village and about 1.5 miles east of the interchange of US 460 and Virginia Route 24. There is a small parking area north of Route 24.
