The ‘Historic District’ wayside marker is on the northwest side of Courthouse Drive in the Spotsylvania Court House Historic District. It is next to the ‘In the Path of War ‘ marker.

Historic District
Many of the buildings that comprised the 1864 village of Spotsylvania Court House still stand today. Pamphlets located in the box below will lead you on a 30-minute waling tour of the historic town.
This photograph, taken in the 1880s from a point a short distance to your left, shows the courthouse (left) and Sanford’s Tavern (right center).
