The monument to Confederate Brigadier General Elisha Franklin Paxton is along the Auto Tour Route but is not a Tour Stop. It is on Stuart Drive about 200 yards south of Plank Road. (see map below)  A wayside marker about General Paxton is across the road with two other markers.

Location of the monument

The monument to Brigadier General E.F. Paxton is on Stuart Drive about 200 yards south of Plank Road (Virginia Route 3) and the Visitor Center (38°18’32.0″N 77°39’06.7″W). The Paxton monument is on the west side of the road across from the wayside markers.
