Chancellorsville Tour Stop 1 markerThe monument to Confederate Lieutenant General Thonas J. “Stonewall” Jackson is at the Chancellorsville Visitor Center (see map below). It is close to the location where he received his mortal wound from friendly fire on the night of May 2, 1863.

Monument to Confederate Lieutenant General Thonas J. "Stonewall" Jackson at Chancellorsville

The monument faces and was intended to be viewed from Plank Road. Over the years Plank Road became a busy four lane divided highway, and a screen of vegetation was developed to cushion the Visitor Center area from the highway. The front of the monument now faces into this vegetation.

Location of the Monument

The monument to Confederate Lieutenant General Thonas J. “Stonewall” Jackson is on the walking trail behind the Chancellorsville Battlefield Visitor Center. (38°18’40.1″N 77°39’01.2″W; )
