Hazel Grove is Stop 9 on the Battle of Chancellorsville Auto Tour. it is on the west side of Stuart Drive south of Plank Road.
The Union army originally held this high ground, but after Jackson’s devastating flank attack on May 1 Hooker pulled back to consolidate his battle line. The Confederates promptly moved 30 guns here, opening a deadly barrage on Union forces at Fairview, which is visible down the clearing.

A four gun battery of artillery is on display with two limbers and a caisson.

Tour Stop 9 on the Battle of Chancellorsville Auto Tour is on the west side of Stuart Drive about 0.5 mile south of Plank Road. (38°18’14.1″N 77°39’05.3″W)
Directions to the next stop:
Continue south 0.1 mile on Stuart Drive and turn left at the wye onto Berry-Paxton Drive. Continue 0.6 mile to the parking area at the end of the road.
There is a monument along the way to Tour Stop 10. The Monument to the 27th Indiana Infantry Regiment is on the north side of Berry-Paxton Drive about 0.3 mile east of the Stuart Drive intersection.
