The Fredericksburg City Dock is not on the Fredericksburg Battlefield Auto Tour but is just a short side trip from the tour route.
While going from the Visitor Center to Stop 2, Chatham Manor, turn right instead of left on Sophia Street where Lafayette Street dead ends. Sophia Street ends three blocks ahead at the City Dock. To resume the Auto Tour, head back northwest on Sophia Street and continue on as if you had turned left.
The Irish Brigade monument is at the City Dock.

There are three wayside markers at City Dock.

The railroad bridge over the Rappahannock, seen from the City Dock. The train carries commuters to Washington, as well as Amtrak service to both Washington and Richmond. Fredericksburg had the farthest bridge downstream on the Rappahannock, but it had been destroyed early in the war.
