The monument to the Fifth Corps, Army of the Potomac is in Fredericksburg National Cemetery, at Stop One on the Fredericksburg Battlefield Driving Tour. (see map below) The was erected in 1901 by Major General Daniel Butterfield, U.S.V., who commanded the Fifth Corps in the Battle of Fredericksburg.

Presented to the Fredericksburg and adjacent Battlefields Memorial Park Association. Corner-stone laid by Fredericksburg Lodge No. 3 A.F.& A.M. May 25th, 1900, in the presence of William McKinley, President of the United States, and the monument was dedicated by that lodge May 30th, 1901.

Location of the monument

The monument is in the NAtional Cemetery just west of the Visitor Center. It is just 50 feet from the east entrance to the cemetery at the Sunken Road, and about 280 feet from the Visitor Center.
