The Appomattox History Trail is a 4.5 mile hiking trail that leads away from roads and through woods and fields from the North Carolina monument on the west side of the park to the site of General Lee’s Headquarters on the east side. No horses or wheeled vehicles are permitted on the trail, which can be rough in sections. Part of the trail follows the Appomattox River.
