The historical marker for Rude’s Hil is in between Mount Jackson and New Market, Virginia. It was erected in 1927 by the Shenandoah Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. The marker is one of 59 commemorating Virginia Civil War battlefields created during the 1920’s by the Battlefield Markers Association. They were the first highway markers in the State of Virginia. Other nearby Civil War markers include Cavalry Engagement, Jackson at Rude’s Hill, Rude’s Hill Action and Rude’s Hill – Knoll of Refuge.
