Stephenson’s Depot

Stephenson’s Depot was a station on the rail line that ran from Winchester to Harpers Ferry during the Civil War. Like many areas in the Shenandoah Valley, more than one battle was fought there. In 1863 Confederate troops crushed Union troops under Brigadier General Milroy. In 1864 Union cavalry formed here for their saber charge during the climax of the Third Battle of Winchester.
