Winchester > Second Battle of Winchester
The Second Battle of Winchester A8 Virginia historical marker is on the south side of Winchester on the west side of US 11 (see map below). It shows the movement of Confederate General Jubal Early in his march to outflank Union General Robert Milroy during the Gettysburg Campaign in June of 1863. Milroy’s force was completely destroyed, clearing the way for Lee’s invasion of Pennsylvania. The marker was placed in 1929 by the Virginia Conservation and Development Commission.
A marker on the First Battle of Winchester is a few yards to the north.
