The East Face of the Salient is Stop 6 on the Spotsylvania Battlefield Auto Tour. It is at the intersection of Gordon Avenue, Burnside Avenue and Bloody Angle Drive, about two miles by road from the Exhibit Shelter at Stop One. Bloody Angle Drive is a former auto road that is now a walking trail. The trail starts from the north side of Gordon Drive and leads back around the Confederate Mule Shoe earthworks to connect to the Bloody Angle and Tour Stop 3.

A Mass Capture
The Confederate Line
Tour Stop 6 is on Gordon Drive about 2 miles from the entrance to the park. (38.220656° N, 77.593322° W)
Directions to the next stop on the Auto Tour:
Continue east on what is now Burnside Drive about .75 mile to Stop 7. Note that Burnside Drive is one way from this point on, and that past here it is impossible to return to the earlier Tour Stops without exiting the park and driving around to re-enter from Brock Road. About halfway to Stop 7 there is a pullout that is not on the Auto Tour with a wayside marker about the Ninth Corps.
