The ‘Where Hill Fell’ Virginia Historical Marker is southwest of Petersburg along Boydton Plank Road (US 1). Just past the marker when travelling southwest is the turn onto A.P. Hill Drive, which leads to the monument marking the spot where Hill was killed.

In the field a short distance
north of this road, the Confederate
General A.P. Hill was
killed, April 2, 1865. Hill, not
knowing that Lee’s lines had
been broken, rode into a party
of Union soldiers advancing
on Petersburg.

Location of the monument
The “Where Hill Fell” Virginia Historical Marker is southwest of Petersburg on the northwest side of Boydton Plank Road (US 1). It is less than a mile northeast of Airport Road and Exit 61 on Interstate 85, and about a mile south of Exit 63 on Interstate 85. (37°11’20.8″N 77°28’35.9″W)
