About the monument

The boulder indicates the spot where Lincoln stood when he came under fire. This was according to Union Sixth Corps commander Major General Horatio Wright, who was with Lincoln at the time. It was dedicated on November 7, 1911. The bronze tablet was creaed by Otto Schweizer and James Kelly and was added on July 12, 1920, as stated on the tablet.
